Robert W. "Bob" Brinkmeyer Obituary
Robert W. "Bob" Brinkmeyer, 87, of Quincy, died at 8:14 p.m. Sunday (March 9, 2014) in the Good Samaritan Home.

Born Aug. 2, 1926, in Quincy, Bob was a son of Orien J. and Meta M. Herren Brinkmeyer. He married Patricia Ann "Pat" Madigan on Oct. 31, 1948, in Quincy. She died Jan. 24, 2013.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Michigan State University and Gem City Business College, Mr. Brinkmeyer was employed as a personnel manager at Electric Wheel, a division of Firestone Tire and Rubber in Quincy, and later retired as a personnel manager at Firestone in Akron, Ohio. After his retirement, he and Pat moved back to Quincy, where he became the personnel manager at St. Mary's Hospital for three years and later worked for Steve Nosser and Chuck Dabney auto sales.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

Bob was an active member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he served on the church council and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood and Salem Couples Club with his wife, Pat. Bob was also a member of Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory, Quincy Shrine Club and Elks Club No. 100 in Quincy.

He enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard and cooking and barbecuing.

Survivors include two sons, R. Michael "Mike" Brinkmeyer (Colleen) of Liberty, and Steve Brinkmeyer (Sarah) of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Chris Brinkmeyer (Cindy) of Omaha, Neb., Rob Brinkmeyer of Liberty, Matthew Brinkmeyer (Allison) of Memphis, Tenn., and Neil Brinkmeyer (fiancee Patricia Ann "Trish" Byars) of Memphis, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Alek Caskey, Geneve Brinkmeyer, Madelleine Brinkmeyer, Liam Brinkmeyer and Dylan Brinkmeyer; a brother, Richard "Dick" Brinkmeyer (Shirley) of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Kramer conducting. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.
