La GRANGE, Mo. -- Ronald L. Farr, 83, of La Grange, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday (April 26, 2013) in the Lewis County Nursing Home, Canton.

Ronald was born Oct. 16, 1929, in rural LaGrange, a son of Richard Leslie and Crysie LuBelle Boltz Farr Sr. He married Mary Dean Forquer on Dec. 18, 1951, in Quincy, Ill. She died Sept. 21, 2008.

Mr. Farr was a long-time farmer and drove a school bus for the LaGrange School and then for the Lewis County C-1 School District for a total of 45 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 170 of the American Legion and the Canton-La Grange VFW, where he was a past post commander. He was a member of the Wyaconda Baptist Church in rural Canton.

He is survived by two sons, Roland Farr and his wife, Pam, of La Grange and Robey Farr and his wife, Sharon, of Canton; a daughter, Ronda Whitaker and her husband, Tony, of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Amanda Lay, Gregory Farr, Randy (wife, Amanda), Tyler and Robin Farr, and Douglas and Geoffrey Whitaker; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Preston, and Peyton Lay and Carlene Farr; one brother, Robert Farr of LaGrange; one sister, Barbara Jean Steinkamp of Camp Point, Ill.; and one sister-in-law, Helen Forquer of Alton, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Patty Farr; one brother, Richard Farr Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Iline Farr and Jean Farr; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Steinkamp; and a great-granddaughter, Reagan Farr.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Davis Funeral Home, LaGrange conducted by the Rev. David Howald. Burial with military honors will be in Wyaconda Baptist Church Cemetery near Canton.

VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
