Theodore "Ted" Allen Burgtorf, 80, of Quincy, joined the love of his life, Pat, in their heavenly home on Sunday (Dec. 02, 2012) with his family by his side.

Ted was born on Aug. 29, 1932, in Quincy, a son of the late William "Corby" and Alvera Burgtorf. He married Patricia Peters on Sept. 1, 1951, in St. Mary Catholic Church.

Ted attended Water School on East State Street of Quincy where he was best remembered as the teacher's favorite. He graduated from Quincy High School and then joined the Air Force serving Americans during the Korean War. Ted was stationed overseas in Japan for part of his term of service. Once back in the states, Ted and Pat lived on several Air Force bases including Chandler, Ariz., and Sacramento, Calif. They started their family in 1957, and in 1963 Ted and his father, Corby, opened Lakeview Tap and Grill. Pat and Ted co-owned the business for 30 years before semi-retiring.

During his semi-retirement Ted truly enjoyed traveling with Pat and their family pet, Fritzie. Their travels frequently took them to visit family and friends that they had met over the years. He enjoyed auto racing, Cardinals games and bowling. One of his favorite tasks in life was nurturing the Lakeview ducks and other wildlife. Nature was his passion. Anything that moved in his backyard was cared for and fed.

He was part of the parish family at St. Peter Catholic Church for 53 years as an usher and a member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Ted was of a strong and sincere faith. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ted is survived by 11 children, John Theodore Burgtorf and his significant other Donna Wright, Mary Patricia and husband, David Mahon, Rose Leanne and husband, John Griffard, Tina Marie and husband, David Daniels, Gail Angela and husband, Kelly Jansen, Gwen Jeanette and husband, Brian Happel, Jolie Ann and Brian "BJ" Dannehold, Samuel Scott Burgtorf and wife, Kelly, Shari Lynn and husband, Jimmy Reckers, Elaine Michelle and husband, Mike Coonrod, and Robin Joan and husband, Ted Koetters. There are 32 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Burgtorf, Carlene Peters, Kathy Peters, Bea and husband Art Hermsmeier; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as aunts and uncles and Ted's godchild Allen Peters.
