William David Eaton, 62, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Quincy, died unexpectedly Wednesday (March 5, 2014) in his home.

Bill was born Dec. 16, 1951, in Quincy to Helen Jean and William Harrison Eaton. He married Leslie Rae Klein on Aug. 14, 1981, in Quincy.

He graduated from Quincy High School in 1970 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1976 during the Vietnam War. Bill served on the USS Saratoga in both the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia.

He graduated from Quincy College in 1982 with a double major in history and computer science. While in Quincy, Bill was an avid model builder, a member of the Quincy Society of Model Engineers model railroad club at the Good Samaritan Home, the Great River Gaming Guild, DeMolay and the Masonic Lodge. Twenty-five years ago, Bill and his family moved to Garland. He worked at Quintron in Quincy and Fujtsu in Texas.

Bill was an exceptionally unselfish person, always generous to family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Jean Eaton of Quincy; his son, David Michael Eaton of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Kimberly (Louis) Marx and his grandchildren, Aja, David and Harrison Marx, all of Fort Worth, Texas; and his sister, Susan (Steve) Schwartz, his nephew, Alex Schwartz, his niece, Andrea (Brandon) Merker, his great-niece, Hannah Mae Merker, and his aunt, Linda Hughes, all of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Harrison Eaton, and his grandparents, David and Ann Hughes and Paul and Lillian Eaton.

SERVICES: Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Quincy National Cemetery near 36th and Maine in Quincy. Bill will be with his father, a World War II Navy veteran, who also is buried there. A memorial service and cremation rites were held March 8 at the Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett, Texas.
