BEARDSTOWN, Ill.--William E. "Bill" Mueller, 85, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, (April 24, 2013) in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Pana, a son of William P. and Elsa A. Schloz Mueller. He married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Krems on Aug. 27, 1950, in First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She died Nov. 19, 2007. Bill graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1945. He joined the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and then graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from CIPS in 1989 after 37 years of service. He currently worked at Benton Associates in Jacksonville. Bill was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown where he had previously served as Church Council president. He was also a member and former exalted ruler of BPOE Elks Lodge 1007 in Beardstown and current president of Beardstown Sanitary District. Bill enjoyed golfing and building model airplanes. Survivors include his children, Paul (wife Penny) Mueller and Carol (husband Larry) Cummings, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Sarah (husband Jim) Johnson, Aaron Cummings and Rob Mueller; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Hollis; three stepgreat-grandchildren Cole, Taylor and Clay; and his special friend, Iva Stock of Beardstown. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in Oetgen Cemetery near Beardstown. VISITATION: Family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight in the Sager Funeral Home, Beardstown. MEMORIALS: First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beardstown.
