Philip J. Dutra, 82, of Bedford, died on August 25, 2013, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. Mr. Dutra was born in Somerville on February 17, 1931, and was the son of the late Augustus and Agnes (Slowe) Dutra. He was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 following the korean Conflict. Mr. Dutra was employed at Hanscom Air Force Base in the Electronics Systems Division for over 30 years in management and program analysis. He was well-known in the community for his kindness and friendly manner with those that he met during his outings for meals or shopping. He will be remembered for his love of his family, music and dancing. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Fitzpatrick) Dutra, four daughters and their spouses, Meg Flaherty and John of Bedford, Joanne Murphy and Tim of Waltham, Susan Kimmell and Jim and Pam Brady and Tom both of Bedford . twelve grandchildren, Jimmy, Patrick, Olivia, Danny, Terry, Jacqueline, Felicia, Joey, Timmy, Philip, Tommy and Abby his brother, Richard Dutra and sisters, Claire and Mary Dutra all of Bedford. His funeral was held from the funeral home on Thurs., August 29, at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 10 A.M.
