Charles H. FitzGerald, of Braintree, formerly of Hingham and Weymouth, died Sept. 5, 2013, at the age of 88. He was the husband of the late Pauline E. (Keller) FitzGerald; loving father of Helen T. Will and her husband James of Weymouth, James J. FitzGerald and his wife Karen Howe of Portland, Ore., William C. FitzGerald of Somerville, Mary C. Zielonko and her husband Karl of Needham and Kathleen A. Willett and her husband Peter of Coventry Conn.; dear grandfather of Joseph, Matthew, Emma, Claire, John and Elizabeth. Charles was born and educated in Boston. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and worked for 30 years out of the South Weymouth Post Office. Charles served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. A memorial Mass was held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree.
