John F. Lyons Obituary
John F. Jack Lyons, age 85, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at South Shore Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cambridge, raised and educated in Dorchester. Jack was a graduate of English High School. He has lived in Braintree for over fifty years. Jack was proud to have served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver for the former Revere Sugar Refinery for over twenty-five years. Jack went on to work as a realtor on the South Shore for many years. Jack was devoted to his family. He enjoyed spending summers on the beach with his wife, children, and ever-growing family. The family would like to acknowledge the staff on Emerson 5 at South Shore Hospital for their compassionate care. Beloved husband for fifty-nine years of Annette J. (Lawless) Lyons. Devoted father of Karen M. Lyons and her partner Joe Webb of Milton, John F. Jack Lyons, Jr. and his wife Michele of Dartmouth, Kathy A. Porkka and her husband Jon of Osterville, James J. Lyons and his wife Lisa of Norwell, Lee Ann Mitchell and her husband Scott of Milton, and Paul M. Lyons and his wife Jacquelyn of Pembroke. Loving grandfather of sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Brother of William R. Lyons of Green Harbor and Janet M. Winchester of Milton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral was from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, Monday, July 21, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Thomas More Church, corner of Hawthorne Road and Elm Street, Braintree at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. Visiting hours was at the funeral home Sunday, July 20, from 3 - 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
