Mario M. Iacovelli, Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, retired, age 85, formerly of Quincy, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Quincy Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Mario was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Quincy schools and had lived in Braintree for over thirty-five years. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-four years and retired in 1970 as a Master Sergeant. He was proud to have served his country during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received many commendations during his career including the Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam War. He loved gardening and flowers. Beloved husband for sixty-five years of Stella M. (Macedo) Iacovelli, he was the devoted father of Mary F. Iacovelli of Braintree. One of thirteen siblings, he is survived by Rose Barney of Kentucky, Loretta Beaudoin of Quincy, Richard Iacovelli of Marthas Vineyard, Lorenzo Iacovello of Braintree and was predeceased by Josephine DiTullio, Carmella Luciano, Margaret Plapis, Michael Iacovello, Virginia Hart, Dorothy Rice, Robert Iacovello and Vincent Iacovello.
