Goran K. Svensson, age 76, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Ingela B. (Larsson) Svensson of Sherborn. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, he was the son of the late Arthur and Magda (Johansson) Svensson. Mr. Svensson received his PhD in physics from the University of Lund, Sweden. He migrated to the United States in 1967. He worked at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) at Stanford University and at the Dana Farber Joint Center for Radiation Therapy at Harvard University. He was also an associate professor at Harvard Medical School. He was an avid kayaker, enjoyed home improvement projects and built his vacation home in New Hampshire. In addition to his wife Ingela, he is survived by three daughters, Katarina S. Wrin and her husband Gordon of Southborough, Malin E. and Maria I. Svensson both of Ashland; his grandchildren Michael, Nicole, Allison and David Wrin all of Southborough. He is also survived by his sister Eva Berring and several nieces and nephews in Sweden and was the brother of the late Mats Svensson. He was the father of the late Robert F. Svensson who died in 2001. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, March 28 at 10 AM Pilgrim Church, 25 South Main St., Sherborn. Following cremation, a private burial will take place at a later date. Visiting hours at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (Corner of Union Ave.), Framingham will be Thursday from 5:30 | 7:30 PM.
