James T. Hurley Obituary
James T. Jim Hurley, 59, lifelong resident of Randolph, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at his home under the care of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary E. (McNealy) Hurley. He was the son of the late John J. Hurley and Mary A. (McCluskey) Hurley. Jim attended Randolph schools and graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School, Class of 1969, and then graduated from Boston State College in 1975 and graduated from New England Institute of Anatomy and Embalming in 1978. Jim, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, was the owner and proprietor of the Hurley Funeral Home , the oldest continually operating business in Randolph. Fifteen years ago, Jim brought his highly professional and compassionate care to the towns people of Holbrook, opening his second funeral home at 127 South Franklin St. For 32 years, Jim has dedicated his life to serving families in their time of need with unparallel quality and kindness. For the past eight years, Jim served on the Board of Directors of Avon Co-Operative Bank and was a former trustee of the Agape Inn of Holbrook. He and his wife Mary donated the property and impetus for the establishment of the Sean Joyce Athletic Field in Holbrook. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 129 and the Randolph Lodge of Elks Lodge 2130. Jim enjoyed traveling, especially going to his residence in Saint Maarten and Scituate. He enjoyed Foxwoods. Jim was the husband of Mary E. (McNealy) Hurley; brother of Marie Hurley of Randolph, Jack Hurley of Easton, Paul Hurley of Weymouth and Anne Gingerich and her husband Gary of South Plainfield, N.J.; nephew of Grace (Hurley) Brewster and Theresa and Robert Feeny. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 17, in St. Marys Church, Rte. 28, Randolph. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Randolph. Arrangements were made by Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main St., Randolph.
