John Joseph Huxley, of Holbrook, age 89, passed away peacefully at Marina Bay Long Term Care Facility on July 5, 2013. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years Ruth (Riley) Huxley, his adoring mother Alice (Foley) Huxley, and his loving sister Helen Huxley. Loving father of William Huxley and his wife Seerena of Rockland, Patricia Huxley-Cohen and her husband Alan Cohen of Beverly, Robert Huxley of Windham, NH, Mary Huxley and her husband John Semer of Brockton, and Janice Jens and her husband Stephen of Winchester. Adoring grandfather of Steven, Pamela, Michael, Christine, Rachel, David, Nicole, Brandon, Matthew, Meagan, and Michaela. Great-grandfather of Nicholas, Rose, and Isabelle. John was a graduate of South Boston High School and served in the US Navy during World War II. He moved to Holbrook in 1954 and was employed as a manufacturers representative. John was a member of the Holy Name Society, on the board of the Holbrook Senior Housing Authority, Treasurer of the South Shore Elderly Services, and was a Town Meeting Member. Funeral was held from the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook, Wednesday, July 17th at 10:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Josephs Church, Holbrook at 11:00am. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, July 16th, 4-8pm. Internment was at Union Cemetery, Holbrook. Late World War II US Navy Veteran.
