Lawrence J. Partridge, Jr., 69, of Gloucester, MA died August 8th after a brief illness surrounded by his family at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Born in Pittsfield, MA on July 9, 1944, son of Lawrence J. Partridge, Sr., and Mary (Buksa) Partridge, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, and earned his BS degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He graduated with an MS in Civil Engineering/Environmental Studies at North Carolina State University and a Doctor of Science degree at Harvard University's School of Public Health. Additionally he attended the business program at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. Larry worked for Camp, Dresser and McKee in Boston, MA, and retired as a Vice-President at Arthur D. Little Management Consulting Firm, in Cambridge, MA. For several years he consulted, and also taught classes at Tufts University focusing on the Control of Material Spills, Landfill Studies and Solid Waste Management and was a contributor to several scientific journals. An accomplished golfer, he played at the Berkshire Country Club in Pittsfield and was a member of the Ipswich Country Club, in Ipswich, MA. Larry lived in the towns of Hamilton and Wenham, MA before moving to his home in Gloucester. He is survived by his three children, Melissa L. Partridge of Newburyport, MA; Heather L. (Partridge) Richard of Essex, MA and her husband Michael; and L. John Partridge III, of Ipswich, MA. Also he leaves his brother Daniel P. Partridge and his wife Sally, of Pittsfield, MA, and an aunt, Rita Buksa (wife of the late Walter) and aunt, Sofe (Buksa) Buckson of Portsmouth, NH and her husband Dan, and many cousins. Larry was the grandfather of Hadleigh, Henry, and Tess Richard of Essex, MA and the uncle of Caitlin and Cara Partridge of Pittsfield, MA. He was pre-deceased by his father Lawrence Partridge Sr. and by his mother Mary (Buksa) Partridge of Pittsfield, and several aunts, and uncles. He was the former husband of Erica (Everett) Partridge currently of Gloucester, MA and Jean L. (Hammersley) Partridge, of Ipswich, MA. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923, or to Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
