Louis C. Morrissey Obituary
Louis C. Morrissey, 87, of Maynard, formerly of Framingham (Saxonville), died Wed. May 14, 2014 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord. He and his wife, Marjorie (OConnell) Morrissey were to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 3rd. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Walczak) Morrissey and brother of the late Thomas Morrissey. He was a graduate of Framingham High School Class of 1944 and the Wentworth Institute, and served honorably in the US Navy Air Corps during WWII. He and his wife Marjorie married in 1951, settling in Maynard to raise their family. A union finish carpenter for 42 years, he was employed by Perini Corporation for many years and was also a police officer for the Town of Maynards Permanent-Intermittent Force for 10 years. A communicant of St. Bridgets Church in Maynard and a member of the Holy Name Society, Mr. Morrissey was also a member of the American Legion Post # 235 and the VFW Post #1812 in Maynard. A true family man, he especially enjoyed being surrounded by his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their four children: Stephen Morrissey and wife Donna of Maynard, Christopher Morrissey and wife Marsha of Sturbridge, Susan Bender and husband James of Hollis, NH, and Nancy Mancl and husband Frank of Bedford, NH; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visiting hours are Sun. May 18th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Mon. May 19th at 10:30 am in St. Bridgets Church, 1 Percival St., Maynard, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd. (Rte 117) Maynard. Memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
