George D. Lynch Obituary
George D. "Bud" Lynch passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Friday, February 1, 2013. He was 84 years of age. Bud was born in Saugus on April 12, 1928 to the late George F. & Margaret (Foster) Lynch. He was raised in Saugus, attended Saugus schools and has been a resident of Melrose since 1956. Mr. Lynch served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. At the young age of 13, Bud started working in the lobster industry for the James Hook Lobster Company in Boston. He continued to work at Hook Lobster for over 50 years before starting his own company, Lynch Lobster Company Inc. at 38 Water St. in Beverly. Bud was still currently working at Lynch Lobster with his family right up until the time of his death. Mr. Lynch was one of the founding members of The Church of the Incarnation in Melrose and a former member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose. He enjoyed spending summers for over 20 years in South Yarmouth on Cape Cod and wintering in Palm Beach Gardens in Florida for many years. Bud loved the sun, the ocean, the outdoors, reading the Boston Globe every day, was an avid Red Sox fan and a big Boston sports fan. He took great pleasure in following all his grandchildren's sporting events and loved to the times spent with his family. Mr. Lynch was the loving husband of 59 years to Theresa (Hook) Lynch. Devoted father of George D. "Buddy" Lynch Jr. & his wife Martha, Donna Lanney & her husband Richard all of Peabody, James J. Lynch & his wife Cynthia of Wakefield and John P. Lynch of Melrose. Beloved brother of Catherine Fisher of PA. Proud grandfather of Meaghan Lynch & George D. Lynch III, Julie Leone & her husband Luciano and Diane Catherman & her husband Jason, Jennifer Lynch, James J. Lynch Jr. & his wife Amber and David F. Lynch & his wife Brittany. Proud great grandfather of Bradley Lynch. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, February 6th at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment with Military Honors at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
