Chandler Gregg passed away unexpectedly at his home on Long Pond on January 14th. Born January 6, 1933, he was the son of James D Gregg and Adele Chandler Gregg. Chandler lived in Wellesley Hills, MA, graduating from Wellesley High School, and furthered his education at Harvard University, receiving his undergraduate degree in 1955 and graduate degree in 1958, both in music. After college, Chandler, an accomplished pianist spent some time touring with the USO, playing piano and entertaining the troops. In 1960 Chandler began to work for the Unitarian Universalist Society in Wellesley Hills. From choir director to organist to piano teacher Chandler was a moving force behind the outstanding music program at the church. After 43 years Chandler retired from the church in 2003. For fifteen years during the mid seventies until the late eighties Chandler was a music teacher at the Boston Conservatory of Music. Upon his retirement from the conservatory, Chandler kept an active schedule teaching piano from his home on Long Pond in Plymouth. Chandler is survived by his sister Marion (Ronnie) Kimball of Topsfield, MA and pre deceased by his brother James Gregg of Plymouth MA. Additionally he is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. This past January 6th, nearly his entire family gathered in Plymouth to surprise Chandler and celebrate his 80th birthday. There will be no funeral services.
