Michael D. Harmon DMD Obituary
Michael D. Harmon, DMD, age 70, of Plymouth, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was the devoted husband of Mary F. (Rocray) Harmon; loving father of John M. Harmon and his wife Shannon of Weymouth, and Emily J. Harmon of Moscow, Idaho. Michael is also survived by his grandchildren, Jackson and Charlie Harmon; siblings, Karen Gratrix, Judi Taylor and her husband Bruce and David Harmon; his sister-in-law, Ann Rocray; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his youngest sister, Susan Clifford. His absence will be strongly felt by all those who loved him. Born Jan. 12, 1943, in Minot, N.D., son of the late Eugene and Carrie (Gifford) Harmon, he was a graduate of Queen Anne High School in Seattle, Wash., Seattle Central Community College, the University of Washington, and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Michael was a dental officer in the United States Public Health Service and was assigned to and served in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years. Later he continued his dental career in the private sector at Horizon Dental Services in Brattleboro, Vt., for 10 years. Recently, Michael volunteered for St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Plymouth in the food pantry and as a lector. He also loved to travel, having driven across the country many times, once just last year with his daughter. One of his favorite past times as a retiree was golfing. He babysat weekly for his two grandchildren and loved every minute of it. He will also be sorely missed by his dog, Buddy. A visitation took place at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 126 South Meadow Rd., Plymouth, Friday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass was held the following day in the church at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne, at a later date. Funeral from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. A donation may be made to your local humane society or veteran's organization.
