Norman Joseph Wells, of Randolph, passed away peacefully, Feb. 26, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 86. Born in Boston, Norman was a proud Double Eagle, graduating from Boston College High School, Class of 1944, and Boston College, Class of 1950. He later went on to earn his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Toronto. After his graduation, Norman began a 42-year career as a professor of philosophy at Boston College. Norman also taught at Fordham University and St. Johns Seminary. Norman was an avid sports fan as well as a season ticket holder to the BC Eagles. He had many passions in life, including reading, research and dining out, however, spending time with his family is what brought him the most joy. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Norman was the husband of the late Lenore J. (Simmons) Wells; loving father of Matthew J. Wells of New York, N.Y., Kevin D. Wells of Randolph, David F.X. and his wife Cynthia Wells of West Bridgewater, Monica M. and her husband Kevin Reilly of Norwell and the late Gary B. Wells; brother of the late Adrienne Markarian; uncle of Lynda Zarrow of Reading and Christopher Markarian of Lynnfield; dear grandfather of Jenna L. Wells, Eric R. Wells, Dennis P. Reilly and Alyssa L. Reilly. A funeral Mass was held March 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Randolph. Visiting hours were Friday 4-8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
