John T. Dow Obituary
John T. Dow, 92, passed away on Thursday January 24, 2013 peacefully with family by his side. John, born in Lynn, MA was the son of Elizabeth (Bonser) Dow and Thomas Dow and the 10th of 12 children. He grew up and spent his life in Saugus. Serving in the Army during WWII, John was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY where he met the love of his life, Christine (Redd) Dow. In November 2012 they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary and also recently moved from their home of 68 years in Saugus to Assisted Living at Haverhill Crossings in Haverhill, MA. John worked at General Electric in Lynn from 1940 until his retirement in 1986. John enjoyed watching sports, but over the years he loved to bowl, ice skate, and ride his bicycle. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John is survived by his wife, Christine and his three children and their families. He is the beloved father to Judy Murphy and her husband Jim of John's Island, S.C., Michael Dow and his wife Janet of Nashua, NH, and Nancy Pfeiffer and her husband Jeff of Newburyport, MA. He is the cherished grandfather of Tim and Matthew Murphy, Kelly Covert, Alicia Dale, Lauren and Jonathan Dow, Jennifer Sackler, Erin Upton, and Gretchen Pfeiffer. Also, the loving great-grandfather to 11 great grandchildren and survived by many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his 11 brothers and sisters. The celebration of his life and funeral services were held on January 27 & 28 at Bisbee Porcella Funeral Home in Saugus, followed by a mass at Blessed Sacrament Church.
