Edward F. McLeod, retired Boston Fire Dept., of Randolph died April 15, 2014, at the age of 91. He was the husband of the late Anna M. (Fitzgerald) McLeod; loving father of Anne Cayer and her husband Roland of Windham, N.H., Edward McLeod Jr. (retired Canton F.D.) and his wife Doreen of Victoria, Va., Robert McLeod and his wife Lisa of Halifax and Arleen McLeod of Randolph; devoted brother of Ethel McNamara, Lorraine Flanagan, John McLeod, Joseph McLeod, the late Paul McLeod, Richard McLeod and Frank McLeod; loving grandfather of Shannon Ferris, Daniel Cayer, Meagan Clark, Robert McLeod, Maryterese McLeod, Robert Dahl, Joshua McLeod and Jason McLeod; as well as his great-grandchildren, Jillian Ferris, Caitlyn Ferris, Brayden Ferris, Madison Cayer, Cody Cayer, Bailey Cayer and Kylie Clark. Ed was born in Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. He was a World War II veteran and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was also a sharpshooter and the recipient of the AEME Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 4 Battle Stars. Ed was a retired Boston firefighter with 32 years of service. His firefighting career was from 1947 to 1979 and he served at Engine 22, Roxbury, Engine 46, Dorchester, Ladder 27, Dorchester, and headquarters. Edward was a very proud member of the Boston Fire Dept. and Local 718. After retirement, Ed worked in customer service for Sudbury Farms in Randolph and was a longtime communicant of St. Mary Church, Randolph. Reposing was at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street (Rte. 28), Randolph, until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:10 p.m. in St. Mary Church, Randolph. Visiting hours were Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
