Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 for Mr. Russell J. Morgan. Mr. Morgan was born in Somerville, MA, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary G. (Marshall) Morgan. He grew up in Somerville and was a 1960 graduate of Somerville High School and later received a bachelors degree from Curry College in Milton, MA. He was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in Commercial Real Estate and later formed the Russell Morgan Company, which was a cookie and pastry distribution company. He was an active member of the former St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish in Watertown, serving in many capacities and a member of the parish Couples Club. He was currently a member of the Watertown Rotary Club and assisted with many activities for the Watertown Chamber of Commerce. Russ was an avid fisherman and enjoyed assisting many in the function of party planning. He spent much of his time mentoring others. He died on Monday, June 4, 2013 at the de Rham Hospice House in Cambridge after a long illness at the age of 70. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Dorothy A. (Souza) Morgan; he was a loving father of: David R. Morgan of Palm Springs, CA and Julie A. Zalegowski and her husband Matthew of North Haven, CT. and his two grandchildren Nathaniel J. and Cole M. Zalegowski. He was predeceased by two sisters: Barbara A. DItalia and Mary Jane Morgan. Russ was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Saint Joseph, 130 Common St., Belmont Saturday June 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM with a reception celebrating his life immediately following Mass in the parish hall. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
