John Peter Loughan of Weymouth, died Nov. 25, 2013, at the age of 92. Peter proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS New Jersey during World War II. After the war, he went to work for IBM for 35 years and retired as a systems analyst. He had many talents including, woodcarving, oil and watercolor painting, and playing the piano. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Josephine F. (Kendrick) Loughan; loving father of Kathleen Norris of New Bedford, Mary Loughan of Weymouth and Jeanne Loughan of N.H.; devoted grandfather of Noahla Purdy of Taunton, Maranatha Norris-Trull of N.C., David Norris of N.C., Shawn Norris of N.H.; and 4 great-grandchildren; Godfather of nephew, Lawrence P. Frazier of Weymouth; brother-in-law of Anna Kendrick of Weymouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held Friday, Nov. 29, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street), East Weymouth. Relatives and friends gathered in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth, at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
