Raymond C. Stenson, Sr., age 84, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, November 8, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Brockton, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Concord, New Hampshire and was raised in Quincy. He was a graduate of Saint Johns Elementary School, Boston College High School and also Boston College, Class of 1950. He has lived in Weymouth for fifty-five years, previously in Quincy. Ray was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and a veteran of the Korean War. In 1970, he founded Country Ski and Sport, Inc., a sporting goods business, with three locations in Hanson, Quincy and Westwood. Ray enjoyed traveling and skiing. He was devoted to his family and especially to his eight grandchildren Beloved husband of the late Patricia E. (Morrissey) Stenson. Devoted father of Marisa L. Stenson of Weymouth, MA, Raymond C. Stenson, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Edgartown, MA, Michael T. Stenson and his wife Ruth of Thornton, NH, Colonel James F. Stenson, Sr., U.S. Army and his wife Sally of Eatontown, NJ, Mark J. Stenson and his wife Denise of Marshfield, MA and Michele A. Stenson of Hanover, MA. Loving grandfather of Raymond, Andrea, Luke, James, Benjamin, Robert, Claire and Jason. Dear brother of John B. Stenson and his wife Mary of Hampstead, NH. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral was from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Saturday, Nov. 16th at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 11 oclock. Visiting was at the funeral home, Saturday, November 16,from 9 | 10:30 a.m. Interment with full Military Honors at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
