Elaine M. Punzel, 86, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Friday October 25, 2013 at Our Houses Senior Living 2941 16th St. So. in Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral services are 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI. Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. John's Church on Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 AM. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is handling all arrangements.
Elaine was born June 3, 1927 in Beloit, WI to Arthur and Grace (Nelson) Bader. She married Frank Punzel on November 27, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2010. Elaine enjoyed camping, rock hunting, traveling and most importantly Bingo. In recent years she was a regular volunteer at the Bethesda Thrift Store. She enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers and watching her daily episode of the Wheel of Fortune. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kellner and was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2534 of Wisconsin Rapids.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren Sharen (John) Hammes of Bangor, WI and her children Michael Stricker of Viroqua, Scott (Danielle) Stricker of West Salem and Joey Fogarty of Weston. Thomas Punzel of Wisconsin Rapids and his children Kane Punzel of Wisconsin Rapids and Kelly Punzel of Wausau. Daryl (Nonie) Punzel and their children Tammy (Kevin) Davisson of Wausau and Blake Punzel of Wisconsin Rapids. Eric (Renee) Punzel of Alexandria, AL and their children Amy (Blake) Knopp, Harley (Melissa) Punzel and Arthur Ott all of Alexandria, AL. Jennifer (Rodd) Friday of Wisconsin Rapids and their children Ben (Molly) Woloszyn of Champagne, IL, Alicia (Jason Bird) Friday of La Crosse, WI, and Austin Friday of Wisconsin Rapids. Judith (David) Frater of Wisconsin Rapids and her children Dalton (Rachel Meils) Lager of Stevens Point, WI, Hannah (Lee Guckenberg) Lager of Wisconsin Rapids, Cody Provost and Savannah Provost both of Wisconsin Rapids. Also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
Elaine is further survived by sisters-in-law Ramona, Vivian, Irene, Arlene, and brother-in-law Otto; many nieces and nephews and her Bingo buddies Rose, Elsie and Bea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Lynda and brothers Kenneth and Eugene.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Ministry Hospice and to the staff at Our House for the loving care they not only showed mom, but to her family as well.
