Emery, George

George V. Emery, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday morning, August 25, 2014 at his residence.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs and Rev. Timothy Ritter will officiate. Burial will be at South New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in rural Amherst. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the church.

George was born June 5, 1936 in Wisconsin Rapids to Valmer and Mildred (Goldberg) Emery. He married Lynette M. Loberg on October 15, 1966 at South New Hope Lutheran Church.

He served his country in the National Guard from 1953-1957 and later in the United States Navy from 1957-1960.

George worked as a technician for Consolidated Papers Inc. in the Biron Division for 45 years.

George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed shooting pool and bowling.

George is survived by his loving wife, Lynette; four sons: Dale Emery of Amherst, Kurt Emery of Rudolph and Todd (Alice) Emery and Joel (Nicole) Emery of Wisconsin Rapids; one daughter, Jacqueline (Leroy) Elyea of Brainard, Minnesota; sixteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Cheryl O'Connor of Wisconsin Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mark.

A memorial will be established at a later date.

George's family would like to thank all of their great friends who were always there when they needed them, especially Cliff Starr, Pastor John, and Pastor Tim.
