Michael Sickinger Obituary
Sickinger, Michael R.

Michael Sickinger,73, passed away on Sept 3, 2013 after a short battle with cancer.

Mike was born in Two Rivers, WI. on Jan 29, 1940.

The family moved to Rudolph, WI. in 1950, where he graduated from Rudolph High School in 1958. He served in the National Guard while attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1962. He earned his CPA certification, and worked at the UW in accounting until he went to Ripon College's Accounting Dept in 1965.

He married Alice Kottwitz at Lake Mills, WI. in 1964, later divorcing. He moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1966, where he spent 25 years working for Northern Arizona University, retiring as Assistant Comptroller in 1991.

He spent the next several years traveling to England, France and Germany, with Alaska and Hawaii thrown in for balance. He wintered in San Carlos, Mexico for over 20 years. Mike enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and was an avid Bridge player. His constant companions were his dogs, one of them was always an Andy, and they were always strays. He would walk them twice a day, and generally spoiled them.

He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Margaret Sickinger, sister, Gail Bratley (Dick) of Washburn, WI, both sets of grandparents, and his life partner, Glenda Lake of Flagstaff, AZ.

He is survived by his son, Paul Sickinger (Tina) of Mesa, AZ., grandson, Daniel Sickinger of New Hampshire, brother, Leigh Sickinger (Bernie) of Springfield, IL., sister, Lynne Hintz (Fred) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., sister, Claudia "Coco" Sickinger (Norm Schmid) of Monticello, WI., and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

To honor Mike's love and devotion to his dogs Andy and Lucy, and all the Andys through the years, the family suggests any memorials be made to the Humane Society. Burial and a family service will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Arrangements and cremation rites were handled by Lozano's Mortuary in Flagstaff, AZ.
