Martin, Stewart K.

OREGON-Stewart K. Martin, age 92, formerly of Beloit, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at William S. Middleton Memorial V.A. Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1922, in Beloit, the son of William and Ethel (Searle) Martin. Stewart attended school in Beloit. He married Doris A. Culver in Beloit. Stewart enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Asiatic Theatre during World War II. Upon his return, he went back to work with Bendix Corp. and retired as a Superintendent in the Tool and Die department. In retirement he and Doris spent the next 30 years wintering in Florida and summers in the north woods. Stewart was a member of the Zor Shriners and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, flying and spending time visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine Martin of Beloit and Cheryl Martin of Oregon; 2 grandsons, Garrett (Bridget) Gracner and Andrew Gracner; three great-grandchildren, Finnegan Gracner and Isabelle and Veronica Novak; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris in 2011; brother, Kenneth (Norma) Martin; and a sister Arlene.

A Memorial Service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2014, with Rev. Sandy Schieble presiding. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Beloit at a later date with military honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
