THOMAS REID LEDBETTER, JR. MBA, CPA (89) of The Woodlands, Texas went home to heaven on Saturday, February 15th. Born to Thomas and Maud Ledbetter in Cheneyville, Louisiana on July 17, 1924 Tom graduated from Cheneyville High School (1941), Louisiana State University (1948), obtained his MBA from The University of Houston (1954) and his CPA (1967). Tom enjoyed 65 years married to Dora Fielder Ledbetter who lives at The Forum in The Woodlands.

Tom was part of the 'Greatest Generation' with his early life shaped by Pearl Harbor, volunteering to serve our country from December 15,1942 thru October 20, 1945. He served as a Technician 4th Grade (T/4) with the 1st Field Artillery Observation Battalion 13th Field Artillery Brigade as a computer specialist. He was involved in campaigns with the 10th Armored Division (Germany), 6th Corps (Italy), 7th Army Sicily (France), 2nd Corps (N. Africa), 5th Army (Italy) and the 9th Infantry (Germany). His unit is known for spending the longest period in combat with 570 days in 34 months of service.

Tom spent his working career as the Chief Accountant for Hudson Engineering, followed by self-employment as a CPA. Tom was very involved in church activities at StoneBridge Church The Woodlands, as well as Second Baptist Church Houston, including involvement in many church committees there. Tom was an ordained deacon at Second Baptist under Dr. James Riley and Rev Ed Young. Tom enjoyed all sports, especially LSU football.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dora; Sister Wilhelmina Richardson (Baton Rouge, LA); Children Thomas III (Robinson, TX); Suzanne (Baton Rouge, LA ); Patricia (Grand Prairie, TX); Liz (Friendswood, TX); Jimmy (Medina, OH); and John (The Woodlands, TX); as well as twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

We will celebrate Tom's life Thursday, February 20th 7pm with fellowship following at StoneBridge Church, One StoneBridge Church Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77382; (281) 363-9292. Funeral Services will be Friday February 21st 10:30am at Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 Frontage Rd, The Woodlands, TX 77384; (936) 321-5115; He will be laid to rest with his military buddies Friday 1:45pm at The Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038; (281) 447-8686.
