Carole S. Damon

LAWTON, OK: Funeral for Carole S. Damon, 90, Lawton, will be at 11:30 AM Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Roberts officiating. Mrs. Damon died Tuesday, January 07, 2014 in Lawton. Burial with military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

Mrs. Damon was born December 14, 1923 in Caldwell, Ohio to Samuel Amos Still, Sr. and Estelle (Morris) Still. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) in 1944 and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. She moved to Lawton in 1958 from France. She married SSG (Retired) George H, Damon, Jr. on November 11, 1961 at Fort Sill. He died August 18, 2005.

She had been a member of the Night Owls of Oklahoma Home and Community Education, Inc. She was also a member of the Lawton Women's Forum Arts and Crafts Division, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Toast Mistresses International, where she served as president, Red Hat Society, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, American Business Women's Association and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was active in 4H as a teen. Mrs. Damon served on the Comanche County Election Board and the Mayor's Commission for the Status of Women. Mrs. Damon had been a volunteer with the . She retired from Civil Service in 1985.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sandra Malicoat, Mountain Park, daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Phil Smith, Huntington Beach, California; six granddaughters, three great granddaughters, five great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Samuel A. Still, Jr.
