MCCONNELSVILLE: Donald G. Taylor, 83, of McConnelsville, passed away at 2:20 pm Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 19, 1930 in Morgan County, the son of the late Lawrence Taylor and Gladys Barnhouse Taylor. He was retired from Federal Mogul after twenty-three years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, life member of Malconta Post #24 American Legion, VFW Post in Malta, and a member of the Post # 24 Color Guard. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Malta United Methodist Church and the Tuesday Night Men's Golf League.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Robin) Tompkins of McConnelsville; a son, Keith (Melinda) Taylor of McConnelsville; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Koby, and Kyler Taylor; and a special friend, Sara Hurst; one sister, Faryl Taylor of Columbus; two brothers, James (Carmeda) Taylor of Malta, and Roy Taylor of Malta; and a sister-in-law, Verna Trayer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Trayer Taylor who died May 29, 2004, three sisters, Rena Craft, Helen Boyd, and Hope Downing, brothers, Charles, Lawrence, Richard, and Andrew Taylor, and a mother-in-law, Pauline Trayer.
Calling hours will be held from 3-7 pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Malta United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Bentley officiating. Military rites will be held at the church following the services by Post #24 Color Guard. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in Malta Cemetery.
