FRAZEYSBURG: Ivan N. Van Allen, 77 of Zanesville, formerly of Frazeysburg, died Friday evening, February 21, 2014 at the Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville.
Born August 17, 1936 in Frazeysburg he was a son of the late James C. and Ethel M. (Cline) Van Allen. He retired in 1992 from Rockwell Manufacturing in Heath with 35 years of service. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of UAW Local #1037 and was a former member of the Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church. Mr. Van Allen enjoyed farming throughout his lifetime and was a member of the Muskingum County Farm Bureau. He contributed to many veterans and health care causes, including DAV and Alzheimer's.
Ivan was devoted to his family, including his wife of 56 years, Carroll (Norman) Van Allen whom he married July 2, 1957; a son, Michael J. Van Allen of Zanesville; a daughter, Ivanna S. Michael of Coshocton; a grandson, Robert Michael of Coshocton; one brother, Dale L. (Inez) Van Allen of Brunswick, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Van Allen and Wadina Lewis and a son in-law, Rob Michael.
Calling hours were Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm today, February 25, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery with military honors being conducted by Wakatomika Post # 6193, VFW.
