NEW LEXINGTON: Rhoderic G. Mills, 90, formerly of New Lexington, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, FL. He and his wife Carolyn have resided there since 2011.

Born June 10, 1923 in Munday, WV, Rhod was a WWII Veteran who entered Europe via Normandy and served in Patton's Army. After graduating from Ohio University on the GI Bill, he married Carolyn Conaway and moved to New Lexington where he opened his own accounting business. In the 1950's, he was elected to two terms in the Ohio State Legislature and subsequently ran for Congress. Later Rhod served as U.S. Post Master of New Lexington, and Carolyn taught kindergarten with New Lexington City Schools. After retirement, they moved to Leesburg, FL.

Rhod will be remembered for his civic involvement, sitting on a number of statewide and local boards and advisory councils and serving in various service and charitable organizations in both Ohio and Florida.

Rhod is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn; son, Ron (Tobi) of Punta Gorda; brother, Ron Mills of Hobe Sound, FL; and sister, Gladie Erdman of Tampa.

Graveside Funeral Service, Masonic Lodge Service and Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at New Lexington Cemetery, 440 Swigart Street, New Lexington, Ohio with Dale Dickson officiating. Military graveside services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion of New Lexington, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 724, New Lexington, Ohio 43764 or First United Methodist Church, 126 South High Street, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
