Robert E. Butts Jr.

ZANESVILLE: Robert E. Butts Jr., 48, of Zanesville, died at 11:57 A.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Zusman Hospice OSU Medical Center. He was born December 5, 1965, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, a son of Robert Butts Sr. and the late Beverly Webb Butts. He was a 1984 graduate of Indiana High School, and worked as a Service Manager at Pro Tire Service Center in Columbus. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran, and a member of American Legion Post #29, Zanesville Quarterback Club, and Faith Temple Church of God in Christ of Indiana, PA. He was a passionate football player, coach, fan, and mentor for biddy league, all-star and ZHS football. When he wasn't busy coaching, he spent his time with friends and family, hunting, fishing, or bowling. Robert loved BBQ Ribs, BBQ chicken, and anything else he could top with barbeque sauce on the grill.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Melody R. West Butts, whom he married July 15, 2000; four children, Jordan West, Jordan Batts, Tavian Butts, and Leanora Haselrig; two sisters, Robin Butts Moore, and Lori Ann (Glen) Watson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister Erin Butts.

Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, and one hour prior to the funeral which will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 7, 2014, with Elder Stanford Webb Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora, with full military honors being presented by the United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058.
