Ret. SMSGT Robert L. (Bob) Riggs
DADE CITY, FL: On December 5, 2013, Retired Senior Master Sergeant Robert (Bob) L. Riggs, formerly of East Fultonham and Avondale, Ohio, was redeployed by a higher commander at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Dade City Florida.
Waiting at home is his wife of 52 years, Billie L. (Kaiser) Riggs; daughters Betty (Bob) Carpenter, and Virginia (Jeff) James. He will be sadly missed by grandsons, Chase and Brett (B.J.) Law of Wyoming; granddaughter, Shannon Wolfe of North Carolina; step grandchildren, Lacey (Chris) Tumblin, Logan Carpenter, Dustin (Nicole) Gregg of Zanesville; great-grandchildren Jacob, Lily, and Lucas Tumblin, and Dawson and Madelyn Gregg, Cayden Wolfe and Kaitlyn Brink; brothers Joseph (Shelly) Riggs, Don Riggs, and Dan (Debbie) Riggs, several nieces, nephews, extended family Mike (Annie) Altman, and great friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Burton and Anna Riggs; dear sisters, Barbara Miller, Patricia Lyons and Phyllis Harrison.
Bob graduated from Crooksville High School. He was a former Superintendent of Maysville Water Department, which he thought of as one of his children and kept a tight hand in until the day of deployment. Among his favorite hobbies were bowling, woodworking and the time spent at their vacation home on the Muskingum River. He was a highly involved member of The American Legion, V.F.W., Moose, and Masonic Lodge where he was a consultant to many establishments he visited, and always in the center of all activities where he went.
A memorial service will be observed at a warmer date and time.
