Walter Vance "Lum" Bolyard

CORNING: Walter Vance "Lum" Bolyard, 93, of Corning, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 18, 1920 in Preston County, West Virginia to the late Benjamin H. and Cassie P. Sigley Bolyard.

Mr. Bolyard was a United States Army Veteran of WW II, where he received two purple hearts; he spent his time farming and hunting on the farm that he loved at 5332 Cliff Wilson Road in Corning, Ohio.

Survived by his children, Jerry (Susan) Bolyard, Dennis (April) Bolyard, John Bolyard, Martha (Ron) Brame, Barbara (Marvin) Nelson and Debbie (James) Proctor; 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Goldie Irene Embrey Bolyard; daughter, Evelyn P. Bolyard; grandson, Jeremiah Bolyard; and three brothers, Golden, Junior and Arnold Bolyard.

The family would like to send a special thanks to FairHoPe Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassion and assistance during these hard times. Also to Dr. Hall Canter and staff and the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the funeral home with Reverend Dan Hinkle officiating.

Burial will be in Community Gardens Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion, New Lexington, Ohio.
