William John "Bill" Clark

ZANESVILLE: William John "Bill" Clark, age 82, of Zanesville, OH died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan ER following a brief illness.

He was born Monday, October 26, 1931 in Big Piney, WY the son of William Herbert Clark and Bernice Mae (Alexander) Clark. Following his parent's death he was brought to Zanesville and raised by Leona Settles. He was married on Wednesday, June 30, 1954 to Helen (Himmelspach) Clark who preceded him in death on September 7, 1990.

He was a member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church. He was a retired Police Captain for the Zanesville Police Department. Mr. Clark was an avid traveler and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Zane lodge #5. He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by daughter: Jackie Clark, of Macon, GA; son: John (Sandy) Clark of Milton, FL and daughter: Janis (Jeff) Watson of Frazeysburg; three grandchildren: Jonathan Clark and (fiancé Jessica Severt) of Milton, Melea Clark of Milton and Jordan Watson of Frazeysburg; and special companion of many years: Bernadetta Hutchison of Zanesville.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by grandson: William Adam dePerrodil of Macon.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM till 12:30 PM, Friday, July 25, 2014 at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:00 PM at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville. Members of the Zanesville City Police Department will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 and the United States Army conducting Full Military Honors.
