ABBOTT, Gordon E., 52, better known as "Butch," passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 28, 2008, due to heart failure. Graduating from Menchville High School, he spent much of his life on the Peninsula before relocating to the Fredericksburg area. He was proficient in many fields, specializing as a master carpenter. He was an avid Redskins and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed golf, hunting, and various outdoor activities. He is survived by his loving parents, Gordon and Barbara Abbott of Norge; and his two children, Lindsay Brooke of Richmond and Phillip Duane of Spotsylvania. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 2:15 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Va.
