JoAnn Sheila Adams, 62, of Waldorf, departed this life Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Born in Port Tobacco, MD September 15, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Lillian and James E. “Harding” Adams. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Kendrick Tirrell “Terry” Adams.
She leaves to mourn two grandchildren, Brittni and Brandon. She is also survived by her siblings George, Warren, James and wife Helen, Romaine, Joseph and wife Wanda, John and wife Cherry, David, and Mary Adams. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many other relatives and friends.
JoAnn was educated in the Charles County Public School System and graduated from Pomonkey High School in 1965. She attended the Charles County Community College and various educational institutions.
JoAnn was retired from General Services Administration and was a Substitute Teacher at Westlake High School. She loved sewing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins.
Viewing will be Monday, October 5th, 9 to 11am at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph’s Way, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment at Church Cemetery. Repast will be held at St. Joseph’s Fellowship Hall.
