Gary Herling Obituary
Gary H. Herling born March 14, 1934, passed away July 18, 2016. Gary was an Adjunct Professor at UNM Dept. of Physics, formerly worked for the Naval Research Dept, BA; U of Penn; Doctorate in Physics; Yale. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, he returned to NJ to rest in a family site along side his parents, sister, etc. Beloved uncle of Terri and Steve, Bill and Janis; devoted great-uncle to Allison and Ronni Pearlman and Brian and Michael Coltin. Loyal, longtime friend to many in Albuquerque, across the nation and in Europe. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

I called him Boris. He gave me his Wednesday tie when he retired from the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC. A bunch of us dressed like him for Halloween one year. He loved it! I missed him when he left NRL. I saw him a couple years ago for lunch with a couple other NRL retirees. I would send him e-mails once in a while "Boris, you there?" He'd reply "Yep." and that was it.
Thanks for the Tie Boris! Rest in Peace
