Harry Smith Obituary

Harry passed away quietly and peacefully after months of declining health.
Harry was Born and raised in Yonkers, New York. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen P. Smith and their five children, Jim (LeeAnne)-Albuquerque, NM, Tom (Jean)-Tyler, TX, Bill (Sue)-Littleton, CO, Kathy Adams (Hugh)-Mission Viejo, CA, Pete (Sue)-Colorado Springs, CO, ten grandchildren: Alie, Lauren (Asher), Lindsey (Craig), Maggie, Parker, Ryan, Chris, Korey (Kelly), Michael, Katelyn, and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Henry.
Harry graduated from LaSalle Military Academy as salutatorian in June 1948 where he developed his love for aviation. He then graduated from Manhattan College, New York City, New York in 1952 with a Bachelor's of Science in Math and Chemistry.
After his service in the United Sates Air Force specializing in Weapons Ordinance Disposal with a National Defense Service Medal, he had a varied career with the Atomic Energy Commission, Department of Energy, Department of Transportation and Lockheed Martin Marietta Corporation, all of which took him to various parts of the U.S. He was always known as the problem solver. Harry lived in Tyler, Texas for the last 14 years, but especially enjoyed his time in Albuquerque from 1964-1974.
A funeral service will be held for Harry on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment with military honors will take place at 2:15 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
