Maureen Walsh Obituary
Walsh, Maureen Virginia

Maureen Walsh, 60, died peacefully while napping at home in Topeka, Kansas, November 1, 2016.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Virginia and Matthew Walsh Jr., their youngest child, she loved ice skating, books, music and especially her Great Aunt Ellen (Ollie) Clancy.

At age seven her family moved to Albuquerque. She graduated from Sandia High School, attended St. Benedict's College in Collegeville, Minn. and Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

She was the top organizer/fundraiser for PIRGIM, a licensed masseuse and volunteer for the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice. She loved to sing, led many singing groups and was a poet.

Maureen struggled with schizo-affective disorder since childhood and had a deep empathy for anyone who was suffering. Faith in Jesus sustained her and love for her extended family and friends was her gift to the world. Our family is forever grateful to all who treated Maureen along the way.

She leaves her beloved mom, Virginia Flanagan; sisters Laura and Patti Flanagan, Albq., Katie Walsh, Lawrence, Kansas, Mary Sue Walsh, Corrales, brother, Paul Walsh, Santa Fe, and several dozen aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and, great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death: Matt Walsh III, brother, Matt Walsh Jr., father, Debbie Flanagan, sister, and Robert Flanagan, step-father.

A Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Albq., visitation and remembrances 10:15 to 11:00, mass at 11:00 am.
