Nina Nye Obituary
Nina N. Nye, born Nov 1, 1922 in Comanche, OK, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2017 at the age of 94. She is survived by her husband, Major Gen Francis W. Nye of Albuquerque; her three children - Dana Maxwell of Las Vegas, NV, Darrell Giacomelli (Missy) of Las Cruces, NM and Debbie Loftis of Albuquerque; her sister, Evaleen Dunn and her cousin, Buddy King (Audrey). She had seven grandchildren - Julie, Michelle, Bryce, Chad, Kiley, Alyx and Lindsey; and four great grandchildren â€" Paige, Amber, Hayden and Braxton. She was preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Andy Andrews, her husband, Loyal Betty and her husband, Charles Van Ausdal. She grew up & graduated high school in Farmington, NM.
Nina was an avid golfer and bridge player. She enjoyed traveling and loved to fish. She had a host of wonderful friends and enjoyed her life fully. She was a most gracious & loving woman.
She will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service and reception to celebrate Nina's life will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 10:30 in the library of The Montebello (10500 Academy Rd NE). Rev. Charles Dougherty of John XXIII Catholic Community will preside at the memorial service. Nina wanted those in attendance to wear pink, her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Dana, Darrell & Missy, and Debbie: Thanks for sharing your Mom with us. She was a bright, funny, welcoming, loving presence. And, wow, could she cook! Dad loved her and loved life with her. We know heaven is more lively with Nina. She's fishing and dancing and singing Willie Nelson songs!
