Diane Rasplicka

Anchorage resident, Diane Lucile Rasplicka, 74, passed away on November 6, 2013 at Providence Alaska Medical Center from lung cancer. She has been battling cancer since 1997, with a first diagnosis of kidney cancer. She was born on December 19, 1938 in Seattle, Washington and became a resident of Sand Lake, Alaska in March 1970.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Captain Cook from 1-5pm on Sunday, November 24, 2013.

Diane married in 1998 to Jim Rasplicka in Las Vegas. She enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas, Florida, and Hawaii. Diane just returned from Vegas when she became ill, but was already setting up a trip for Hawaii. She was a good listener, even total strangers could get her to listen.

Diane was employed at Ken Wray Printing from 1970 to 1991. She then moved to the jewelry counter at Lamonts. Diane joined the Fred Meyer jewelry counter in the 1990's as well.

Family states, "Diane would like everyone to know these illnesses should not control your quality of life and one day they will be a footnote in medical history."

Diane is survived by her husband, Jimmy Jay. Rasplicka; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy M. & Gary W. Marian of Anchorage; son, Philip E. Riezinstein of Kent, WA; grandsons, Justen L and Dillon W. both of Anchorage; granddaughters, Raschel and Krista Riezinstein of Yelm, WA; great grandson, Kaesen S. Marian of Anchorage; older brother and sister-in-law, Thomas & Ann Bunton of Edmunds, WA; 1 nephew and 2 nieces and their families all of Edmonds, WA; brother and sister-in-law, Steve & Sherry Rasplicka both of Anchorage; and she had so many close special friends, way too many to list, but you all know who you are!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry P. and Marie F. Bunton.

Arrangements were done by Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
