Leona "Lee" C. Rannals, 90, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Providence Horizon House in Anchorage Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her husband B.F. Rannals; and her siblings Dee King, Mary Gaines, and Dan Shannon.

She leaves behind her sister Eileen Macmuller; son Larry and his wife Shirleen of Anchorage; son David and his wife Pamela; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from high school and Business College in Omaha, Nebraska Lee met B.F. who was stationed at Fort Crook.

The couple came to Alaska in 1950 where they planned to stay a couple of years and earn enough to go back to California and buy a home. They fell in love with Alaska and never left. Lee worked as a stenographer for the Alaska Road Commission, the Doctor's Clinic, the Health Department and RCA Alascom. In 1972, she began working fulltime at her own shop, Lee's Jewelry. Her husband worked by her side in fine watch repair.

Through the years they traveled to Europe with a "watchmakers" group and went to Paris, France to revisit some of the places B.F. was stationed at during the war. They went on cruises through the Panama Canal and around the Hawaiian Islands. Lee enjoyed gardening, homemaking, reading and bowling. She also liked to entertain family and friends with a good meal.

Lee once wrote, "My family has played an important part in my life. I have wonderful memories of our many get-togethers. I have had a very rewarding life. We weren't rich, but we were rich in having a great family, and I think family and friends mean more than money."

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 2111 Muldoon Rd., on Saturday January 4, at 2 p.m. Rosary and Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Mass to follow.
