Former Anchorage resident Linnet Karen Rogers, nee Trefts, died November 24th, 2013 in Hunstville, Ala.
A service was held on Wednesday, November 27th at Cove Church in Hampton Cove, Ala., with a separate service planned for Anchorage family and friends in June 2014.
Linnet was born in Palo Alto, Calif. on February 6th, 1945 to Anne Park Ryan and Walter Trefts. As a child, she divided her time between her father and step-mother, Wanda, in San Francisco, and her mother in Orinda, Calif.
Always the adventurer, she lived for two years in Switzerland in her twenties, working as a waitress and seeing Europe with her closest friends.
She married Tim Rogers in January 1971 in Sausalito, Calif., after which they promptly drove up to Anchorage, Alaska to start a new life and family. For over 30 years, they lived in Anchorage raising their three children and many animals.
A lover of arts and crafts, Linnet opened up Turnagain Crafts and Christmas Shop in 1978. In the early 1980s, Linnet found Mary Kay and became a sales consultant, allowing her to merge her love of meeting new people and making women of all ages look and feel beautiful. She was one of the top Mary Kay sales directors in Alaska for well over a decade.
In 2003, at the tender age of 58, Linnet packed up her truck with her 5 cats and drove from Anchorage to Huntsville, Ala. She started working at Costco in 2007, and "The Costco Lady" became well-known all over town for her sparkling personality, bright smile and infectious giggle.
She is survived by her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Christine Rogers; their three children Megan, Alison and Tyler; her son, Kevin Rogers, and her daughter, Katie Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local animal shelter in the hopes that your gift will help a 'fur person' find his family.
Friends and family will remember Linnet for her bottomless ability to love and talent for lighting up any room she entered.
