Robert Firlan

Eagle River resident, Robert Zachary Firlan, 27, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Anchorage from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Dimond Boulevard Baptist Church, 3616 W. Dimond Blvd. in Anchorage. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post #9785, 10527 VFW Road, Eagle River. Burial will be at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

Zach was born February 27, 1987 to Robert and Cynthia (Bridge) Firlan in Warrenton, Virginia. He moved to Alaska nine years ago while in the military and was also honored a Purple Heart medal for faithfully serving his country with tours in both Iraq and Afganastan. After his retirement from the service he worked as a Real Estate Lease Administration Manager in Anchorage.

"Zachary is a loving father and husband. He always put his family first and made sure they were taken care of. He could make friends with anyone and bring a smile to everybody's face. He has always been the life of the party and a genuine person with a genuine heart. He adored his family time, and had a passion for weightlifting, and cars." quoted a close friend.

Zach is survived by his parents, Kelly and Cynthia Firlan; wife, Brooklyn Firlan; and his sons, Braxton Firlan, Aiden Firlan, Avery Firlan, and baby on the way Zachary Cache Firlan; sisters, Becca and Amanda; and brother, Jake.
