Roy Kikuchi

Anchorage resident, Roy Mitsuo Kikuchi, 66, passed away on October 6, 2013 at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

Roy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 29, 1947 to Harry and Jean Kikuchi. Growing up, Roy was raised Catholic and attended seminary as a child. Later in life he joined the Air force; bravely serving his country in Vietnam. Roy married Angelina Abilay on November 17, 1966 in Honolulu.

In October of 1971, they moved to Alaska. Roy was transferred to Mount Hebo Air Force Station, Oregon for a few years and then returned to Anchorage. After leaving the Air Force, Roy joined the Air National Guard as well as working for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired from both after over 20 years of service. He was part owner of Dan's Camera Shop in downtown Anchorage.

Roy enjoyed cooking so much that as a hobby he worked as a chef in various restaurants in Anchorage. He loved baking, and spoiling his kids and grandkids. His wonderful sense of humor and love of story telling made him the life of every function. His family stated "Roy was the most kind, giving and friendly person. His warm smile and bubbly personality touched everyone he met. Words cannot express the pain we are feeling from the loss of a truly wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will forever be in our hearts and memories."

Roy is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Roz and her boyfriend, Stan; daughter, Andrea and her husband, Brian; daughter, Gina and her husband, Ben; son, Will and his wife Trish, and son, Sam; grandchildren include, Paige, Liam, Emily, Zachary, Juliet, Archer, Mason, Marianne, Steven, Jake, Zach, Frank and Sarah; dear family friends, Anna and Stan; brothers, Glenn, Kenneth and David; sister, Donna.
