William Erickson passed away December 31, 2012 in Rayong, Thailand. He was cremated January 7, 2013. Bill was born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1926. He spent 2 years in the Air Force at the end of World War II. In the spring of 1948 Bill and his wife of one year came to Alaska on the steamship the Baranoff. They settled in Anchorage and one year later Bill went to work for a newly formed company Steel Fabricators. He remained in that line of work and with that company for 38 years. Also in his remaining years in Alaska he found time for flying, commercial fishing, hunting and guiding. After 20 years he and his first wife parted after their son and daughter finished high school. Two years later he met he met and married and adventuresome school teacher. They spent 23 years together in an Alaskan style of living. After Ruth's death in 1998, Bill set out for a warmer climate. He ended up in Thailand where he met and married a Thai woman. They bought a condo on the beach and a small fruit farm nearby. They remained there in what Bill said was as close to heaven as he could get. He had a small family and some very close friends in his life. Bill was very satisfied with his life and when asked would reply, "If I had a choice I would do it all over again the same way." Bill is still out there somewhere and still doing what he wants to do, so if you remember him remember that.
