Agnes Makaily Borden, 67, passed away on Oct. 19, 2017, surrounded by her husband and family. A memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be scattered at a beautiful view of wonderful Alaska.
Agnes was born April 11, 1950, to Andrew and Olga (Prokopiof) Makaily in St. George, Alaska. The family moved to Sitka, Alaska, and she attended high school in Juneau, Alaska, graduating from Juneau-Douglas High School. She attended college at University of Alaska-Fairbanks where she met her husband, James. They moved to Anchorage where they raised their children and she later graduated from University of Alaska-Anchorage.
She was the longtime Jewel Lake Tastee Freeze employee, sometimes referred to as the "lunch rush commander." She made lovely custom reconditioned furniture pieces which were high sought after by many. She also enjoyed quilting. Her family will always remember her as a loving wife and mother and defender of family and friends.
Agnes is survived by her husband, James Borden; daughter, Kristen Stoll; son, Reeve Borden; and brothers, George Makaily; Andrew Makaily; Nick Makaily; and Al Makaily; and sister, Alice Bennett.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Olga Makaily.
