Anchorage resident, Alberto G. Contreras III, 48, passed away December 13, 2013, at Alaska Regional Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends.

A celebration of Alberto's life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday December 21, 2013 at Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave., Anchorage.
Al was born in Salinas, California on April 16, 1965 to Alberto Contreras Jr. and Idalia Contreras. In 1973 his family moved to Alaska. He attended and graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1983, then studied Computer Information Systems at UAA.
Al was employed with GCI for 23 years. He enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, playing softball with his team he managed, watching football games and working as a part time DJ. Al loved joking around, laughing and having fun with everyone around him and spending time with people he loved. He was very generous, kind hearted and willing to help anyone in need. He will truly be missed due to the happy memories he has left behind.
Al was preceded in death by his father, Alberto Contreras Jr. and his two cats he loved so much, Scotty and Andrew. Al is survived by his mother, Idalia "Lali" Contreras; sister, Evie (Travis) Stanton; brothers, Adrian Contreras and Mario Contreras; niece, Rylee Stanton; and nephews, Connor Stanton and Joshua Contreras.
